Drearier Cities

Heading to New York, leaving L.A

A drearier city, I guess it’s ok

Everything’s dusty. No one is free,

It’s insinc with the madness

That’s Inside of me

Heading to New York, I’m leaving L.A

Been here before, but I couldn’t stay

And now that I’m here and I’ve found you

I’m in love with the tender heart,

That breaks when you’re blue

Heading to New York, leaving L.A

A drearier city, I guess it’s ok

And all of the bars here

Beckon my name

And they always lead to

The bars of a cage

But my baby you know she

Waits sweetly for me

I’m in love with my baby

And I’ll always be

Drunk since the sun rose

And now the sun’s going down

Still drinking next sunrise

On  Long Island sound

And watching reflections

Of yellow beams on blue

I’m watching the ripples

Of waves just passin’ through

And baby just maybe

We should just leave

A scenery change

Might be just what we need

So if you’ll join me

Let me explain

We’re leaving New York

And heading to Maine
